MINUTES OF THE POLICY
COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES OF THE PALATINE PUBLIC
LIBRARY DISTRICT,
CALL TO ORDER
The
meeting was called to order at

Upon
roll call, Trustees Barnes and Heggem and Interim Director Isom were physically
present. Also physically present were
INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS
There
were no visitors.
DISCUSSION OF POLICY DRAFT REGARDING
COMPUTER-USE-ONLY LIBRARY CARDS
Assistant
Director Getty distributed a draft of a policy regarding computer-use-only
library cards. Committee members decided
that it should be included as a section in the existing library card policy and
that the language should parallel existing language. Suggestions for rewording the new section
were discussed. It was determined that
the new section would be inserted into the policy as section 2-1.7 with that existing
section being renumbered to 2-1.8 and subsequent existing sections being
renumbered in sequence from there. The
title of the section will be: Temporary
Computer-Use-Only Library Cards.
Assistant
Director Getty will do a second draft of the proposed policy for the Committee
to review.
DISCUSSION OF POLICY REGARDING ELECTRONIC
PARTICIPATION AT MEETINGS
Due
to the time of day, discussion of a policy regarding electronic participation
at meetings was postponed.
NEXT POLICY COMMITTEE MEETING DATE
The
next meeting of the Policy Committee will be held at

that time the committee will discuss Appendix 14 (Loan Periods) in addition to
the policy on computer-use-only library cards.
