MINUTES OF THE POLICY COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES OF THE PALATINE PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE PALATINE PUBLIC LIBRARY, 700 N. NORTH COURT, PALATINE, IN SAID DISTRICT AT 9:00 A.M. ON OCTOBER 17, 2006

CALL TO ORDER

The meeting came to order at 9:10 a.m.

ROLL CALL

HHUpon roll call, Trustees Barnes and Heggem, Director Armstrong, Marcie Rodriguez and Diane Comen were present.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The minutes of the October 3, 2006 meeting were reviewed and approved.

POLICY DISCUSSION

Reciprocal Borrowing Restrictions – It was noted that the proposed revisions of Appendix 13 were adopted by the Board of Trustees at the October 11, 2006 meeting with one change.

Internet Policy – The Committee reviewed the Internet Policy and discussed new technology that has been implemented to manage patron access to Internet stations. Diane Comen will investigate the capabilities of the system and report back to the committee at the next meeting. Of particular interest is the ability of the system to vary the restrictions on access by various groupings of computers.

NEXT MEETING DATE

The date for the next meeting was set for October 24, 2006 at 9:00 a.m.
