MINUTES OF THE POLICY COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES OF THE PALATINE PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE PALATINE PUBLIC LIBRARY, 700 N. NORTH COURT, PALATINE, IN SAID DISTRICT AT 9:00 A.M. ON OCTOBER 24, 2006

CALL TO ORDER

The meeting came to order at 9:10 a.m.

ROLL CALL

HHUpon roll call, Trustees Barnes and Heggem, Director Armstrong, Marcy Rodriguez and Diane Comen were present.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The minutes of the October 17, 2006 meeting were reviewed and approved.

POLICY DISCUSSION

Internet Policy – The Committee reviewed the Internet Policy and discussed new technology that has been implemented to manage patron access to Internet stations. The Committee suggested changes in the Internet Policy. Staff members will revise the Policy for discussion at the next Committee Meeting. Staff will develop a rationale for allowing those of 14 years of age and older access to the Internet and computers on an equal basis with adults.

The date for the next meeting was set for November 14 , 2006 at 9:00 a.m.
