Reading Club 2008: Read...Naturally
Sunday, June 1 through
Thursday, July 31
All district cardholders, ages 2
through adult, are invited to join the summer reading program
Read…Naturally at the Palatine Public
Library District. Enjoy nature as the outdoors comes inside the Library!
This summer’s program will include reading, fun and prizes. For the
very first time, high school readers will have their own category!
Bring
your Palatine Public Library card and sign up at the Main Library,
beginning Sunday, June 1. Freeman Road and Rand Road Branches begin
sign-up, Monday June 2. The Bookmobile will begin sign-up on Saturday,
June 7. Participants junior high age and under will earn a half-way
prize and Reading Rewards coupons for completing all of the reading
requirements. Everyone who completes the program will receive a grand
prize T-shirt, generously provided by the Friends of the Palatine
Library.
The program
ends on Thursday, July 31, at the respective closing time of each
location.

Drop In Craft
Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Encourage your child’s
creativity and enjoy a simple craft together. Young children and their
parents/caregivers are invited to drop in to Storyroom C anytime between
10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. where a different craft will be featured on
each date.

Children ages 1 through going
into Kindergarten are invited to storytimes. Parents/caregivers must
remain with children ages 2 and under. Programs within the same week
will feature the same stories. No registration is required.

Family Programming
Amazing Animal Adventure Show
Thursday, June 19, 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Samantha and her Amazing
Animals are back, this time with her Amazing Animal Adventure Show! Join
us for an entertaining and interactive show for all ages. You will get
the opportunity to meet a wide variety of animals including a coatimundi,
a kinkajou and an armadillo. A few of the animals will perform tricks
for the audience. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the
Palatine Public Library. Tickets are required and will be available
beginning Thursday, June 5.
Frogs, Toads and Salamanders
Tuesday, July 15, 11:00 a.m.
Come experience frogs, toads
and salamanders by holding and feeding them. Expert Randy Korb provides
an educational and enjoyable program about these native amphibians. All
children will get the chance to hold an amphibian. Tickets are required
and will be available on Tuesday, July 1.
Owls and Other Birds of Prey
Monday, July 28, 7:00 p.m.
Join Mark Spreyer, from the
Stillman Nature Center, as he presents a program about owls and other
birds of prey. He will also discuss rehabilitation for these majestic
birds. Mark will bring in a few owls for this informative and
entertaining program for all ages. Tickets are required and will be
available beginning Monday, July 14.

Freeman Road Branch
Drop in Crafts for Preschoolers
Fridays, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Young children and their parents/caregivers are invited to drop in
anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to the Freeman Road Branch to
make a simple craft together. A different craft will be featured each
date.
Plant a Flower
Wednesday, June 25, 1:00 - 1:45 p.m.
Summer is in full bloom, so let’s dig in and plant a flower for you to
take home. You can replant the flower in your yard for the summer or
keep it inside your house. Registration is required and begins

Pebble Pets

Join us as we decorate a pebble and turn it into an animal friend. You
