Meeting Room Renovation Begins

On Monday, February 20th, renovation work will begin in the Library’s meeting rooms. The project includes the large meeting room, meeting rooms 2 and 3, and the Friends of the Library room as well as the hallway in the meeting room corridor. The spaces will be painted and re-carpeted.

The kitchenette between meeting rooms 1 and 2 will be redone to update and refresh the surfaces. Other finishing elements include replacing the window blinds and restoring woodwork.

Audiovisual equipment will be installed in meeting rooms 1 and 2 to provide enhanced sound and projection in those rooms.

The project is expected to continue in phases through the middle of April. Once painting is completed new carpet will be laid next. The installation of audio visual equipment is planned as the final element of the renovation. Interruption to meetings and programs already scheduled in the meeting rooms should be minimal. Library staff will notify anyone who has scheduled a meeting or program if there is a need to relocate or reschedule due to the renovation.

This is the first time the meeting rooms have been refurbished since the Main Library opened in 1993. The renovation is being funded predominately through a generous grant of $45,000 from the Friends of the Palatine Library. The Library Foundation is funding the new window blinds. The remainder of the project will be paid from the Library’s reserve funds.
