Sixteen-year-old Willowdean Dickson wants to prove to everyone that she deserves to be a part of the pageant just as much as the twiggy girls. She grapples with her feelings for a coworker, her mother's disapproval, and issues with her best friend, yet she prepares to compete in the beauty pageant that her former pageant-winning mother runs.
