Initiatives
A key initiative for 2017-2018 was the StoryWalk® Project, which involved the installation of a series of permanent panels that display a story, so that families can enjoy reading while participating in an outdoor activity together. The project currently displays "How Rocket Learned to Read" by Tad Hill, and was completed and installed at the Tom T. Hamilton Reservoir in June 2018, in partnership with Palatine Park District. The project involved a great deal of collaboration with community partners and was kicked off with a Storytime event led by Library and Park District staff.
Another project funded by the Foundation includes a set of Go Pro cameras that are now available to check out from the Digital Media Center. These cameras capture stunning, high-definition video in almost any environment and are perfect for action shots.
