Reading Requirements
Birth – Grade 2: Read 30 Books
Grades 3 – 5: Read 10 Books
Grades 6 – 12: Read 5 Books
Adults: Read 5 Books
What counts as a book?
ANYTHING! Books include audiobooks, newspapers, magazines, ebooks, online articles, and more. Did you read a how-to-article, read a report for work, research a new coffeemaker? That all counts on your log.

Sign up to get a scratch-off card for a chance to win a free prize while supplies last. Save your scratch-off card for amazing freebies and discounts around town generously provided by our sponsors!
Finish and Get a Grand Prize!
After completing the program, get a t-shirt or a tote bag generously donated by the Friends of the Palatine Library. Claim your completion prize by Friday, August 15 while supplies last. Shirt size selection is limited.
Side Quests
Explore what the Library has to offer and embark on a summerlong adventure with a side quest sheet! Complete nine activities on the sheet and show it to a staff member at any of our service desks to get a brag tag. Pick up a sheet at any of our Branches. While supplies last.
Kick-off Party
Saturday, June 7, 12:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Celebrate our Summer Reading Program with family bingo, arcade games, and crafts on the first and second floor.
All ages. Drop in.
The Magical World of Balloons
1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Welcome Smarty Pants for a brand-new balloon show. Smarty Pants combines magic with amazing balloon creations leaving you in awe. All ages. Tickets available 5/24 for Palatine cardholders only.
