For District Residents
You can apply for a Palatine Library card if you live inside the Palatine Public Library District. Library cards are free. See a map of the District.
Bring one form of government issued photo ID to any Library location. If the photo ID does not have your current address, bring an additional document that shows your address. Children under 14 must be with an adult to apply for a card.
For a quicker process, download the application in advance. Print and complete it, and bring it with you to the Library.
For a District Business or Not-for-Profit
Palatine Library cards are available to any business within the Library District.
The owner or manager must apply in person at any Library location. Provide a personal photo ID and the business's current tax bill, lease agreement, or utility bill.
The person whose name appears on the card will be responsible for all resources checked out. Reciprocal borrowing with other libraries is not honored.
For non-District Residents
If you do not live or own property within our District, you can purchase a full-service Library card for an annual fee (as permitted under applicable state laws and regulations).
To calculate your fee
Multiply the equalized assessed value (EAV) on your tax bill by .00276 (the current combined tax rate of the Library District). Please contact the Welcome Desk for further assistance: 847-358-5881 x100.
Multiply your rent by 0.15.
To get a card
Bring a copy of your most recent Cook County tax bill (home-owners) or lease agreement (renters) and a photo ID to any of our locations.
