Notice - Louder Noise Level at Main Library this Saturday

Saturday, November 16 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., the noise level will be louder than usual due to our Library-wide STEAM Fair.

Volunteers need a valid Palatine Public Library District card. We are unable to accommodate court-ordered or court-supervised community service.  

Opportunities for Adults

 

Circulation Volunteer 

Location: Main Library
Date/time:  Tuesday Mornings 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (2 hours)
Duration: Ongoing

Assist the Circulation Department by shelving holds, casing cd's and dvd's and assisting staff with other tasks as necessary.  Volunteer must commit to volunteering two hours each week.  This opportunity requires reaching, bending, squatting, and kneeling to complete the tasks.  Volunteer must pass a short Circulation quiz in order to be placed as a Circulation Volunteer.   Short term volunteers may apply for this opportuntity.  

 

Technical Services Volunteer (2 Opportunities)

Location: Main Library
Date/time:  Tuesdays 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. & Wednesdays 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Duration: Ongoing or Short Term

We have two opportunities to help our Technical Services department open and sort packages of new items. Remove shrink wrap from audiovisual materials, unbox new books and place items in order on a book cart.  Must have the ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds and lift and carry up to 20 pounds.    Short term volunteers may apply for these opportunities. 

 

Opportunities for Teens

There are no open volunteer opportunities available for teens at this time.   Please check back at a later date.
