You may also submit a paper application, available at all Library locations. Some opportunities require a special application (as noted).
Volunteers need a valid Palatine Public Library District card and must commit to volunteering a minimum of 15 hours. We are unable to accommodate court-ordered or court-supervised community service.
Opportunities for Adults
Member Services Volunteer
Location: Main Library
Date/time: Sundays between 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. (2 hours)
Duration: Ongoing or Short Term
Assist the Member Services Department by shelving holds, casing cd's or dvd's, and assisting staff with other tasks as necessary. Volunteer must commit to volunteering two hours each week. This opportunity requires reaching, bending, squatting, and kneeling to complete tasks. Volunteer must pass a short alphabetical quiz in order to be placed as a Member Services volunteer. Short term volunteers (teens ages 14-17) may apply for these opportunities.
Opportunities for Teens
Teen Advisory Board (TAB) - for grades 8th-12th
The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meets monthly during the school year and members assist at various programs throughout the year. Applicants must be in grades 8-12 to become a member. Applications are available August 1-15.
Tween Advisory Group (TAG) - for grades 5th-7th
The Tween Advisory Group (TAG) meets monthly during the school year on Saturdays between 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Enjoy a fun activity and give input for library services, displays, programs, and collections. Each month features a different activity. Sign-up two weeks before the date on the library events calendar or click the link below. No application required.
