You may also submit a paper application, available at all Library locations. Some opportunities require a special application (as noted below).

Volunteers need a valid Palatine Public Library District card and must commit to volunteering a minimum of 15 hours for most positions (except special programs or events).  

Opportunities for Adults

Homebound Delivery Volunteer

Location: Main Library

Date/Time:  Wednesday/one time per month 

Duration:  Long Term

Support the Adult Services Department by delivering books to our homebound members in the northeast area of Palatine. Must possess a valid drivers license, insurance and be able to use your own vehicle to make deliveries. This opportunity involves having to lift/carry up to 25 pounds. 

Opportunities for Teens

TWEEN AND TEEN SUMMER SERVICE PROJECTS - grades 6-12

Earn service hours while giving back to the community and having fun. Sign up begins two weeks prior to each date. 

Friday, June 23, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.: TEEN TESTED

Shape Library programs, displays, and more by sharing your opinions. 

Friday, July 28, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.: GIVE BACK TO FURRY FRIENDS

Make cat and dog toys for Barb's Precious Rescue and Second City Canine Rescue. 

Friday, August 25, 3:00-5:00 p.m.: HONOR OUR ELDERS

Make pen holders and flower pens for residents at Solstice Senior Living. 

 

MEMBER SERVICES DEPARTMENT - for grades 9-12

Volunteers shelve holds, recase cd's and dvd's and and may assist with picking holds.  Volunteers must take an alphabetical quiz.  Minimum 15 hours required.  Weeknights and weekends available.  To apply, click on "Apply Now' above.

TEEN ADVISORY BOARD (TAB) - for grades 9-12

The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meets monthly during the school year and members assist at various programs throughout the year.  Applicants must be in grades 9-12 to become a member.  Applications are available August 1-15.
