For all valid District cardholders.
- Birth – Grade 2: Read 30 Books
- Grades 3 – 6: Read 10 Books
- Grades 7 – 12: Read 5 Books
- Adults: Read 5 Books
What counts as Reading? ANYTHING!
- Books include audiobooks, newspapers, magazines, ebooks, work reports, online articles, and more.

Sign up between June 1 and August 15 to get a scratch-off card for a chance to win a free prize of your choice—while supplies last. And, save your scratch-off card for discounts around town—generously provided by our Summer Reading Program partners!
Choose Your Grand Prize!
After completing the program, receive your choice of a Grand Prize T-Shirt or Tote bag, generously donated by Friends of Palatine Library. Claim your completion prize through Friday, August 31, while supplies last. Note: T-shirt size selection is limited.
Summer Reading Kick-off Party Adventure
Saturday, June 1, 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. Celebrate our Summer Reading Program with an exciting selection of games and activities, including BINGO, face painting.
Make a Craft
- Kids - Stop by the craft station where kids make a fun hand puppet and test it out at our puppet stage in the Children's Play and Learn Area.
- Adult - Turn a plastic picture frame into a slanted holder for sticky notes.
Family Program - A Zoo to You!
12:00 - 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Kick off the start of summer by meeting some cool and interesting exotic animals. All ages. Tickets available May 25 for valid District cardholders.
Attend for a Chance to Win!
Come in Saturday, June 1, enter for your chance to win a two-pack of day-pool passes, donated by the Palatine Park District; or a Free Seascape Family Aquatic Center guest pass (with purchase of an adult day pass), or Free Admission to public ice skating at Triphahn Center, donated by the Hoffman Estates Park District. You must be registered for the Summer Reading Program and be present at the Kick-off Party to enter. Winners notified by Friday, June 7.
